PSUA BLOWS 2 GOAL LEAD AGAINST BRYN ATHYN LATE IN THIRD PERIOD

Tuesday, December 3, 2013

SLOW STARTS AND NOT PLAYING A COMPLETE 60 MINUTES HAS PLAUGED THE LIONS ALL SEASON LONG AND THEIR OPENING CONTEST IN "THE CLASSIC"  WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT.  PSUA WOULD FIND THEMSELVES DOWN QUICKLY IN THE FIRST PERIOD 2-0 TO BRYN ATHYN.  THE LIONS WOULD GO IN AND REGROUP IN THE SECOND PERIOD AND FIND AWAY TO TIE THE SCORE AT TWO.  PSUA FIRST GOAL WOULD BE SCORED BY NONE OTHER THAN STEVE FEDENA (BERTONE, SODROSKY).  THEN BEN KINCH WOULD ADD THE LION'S SECOND GOAL ASSISTED FROM JEFF NELSON AND JACK LAWN.  THE LIONS WOULD CONTINUE THEIR MOMENTUM SCORING THE NEXT TWO GOALS.  ANTHONY BERTONE (SODROSKY, FEDENA) AND ADAM BADORREK (LAWN) WOULD GIVE THE PSUA A 4-2 LEAD WITH ABOUT TEN MINUTES TO GO.  THERE IS AN ADAGE IN HOCKEY THAT THE TWO GOAL LEAD IS THE HARDEST TO PROTECT AND THIS WOULD PLAY OUT TO BE TRUE.  THE LIONS WOULD SURRENDER THE NEXT THREE GOALS IN A HEARTBREAKING 5-4 LOSS.  "WE WERE NOT PREPARED TODAY.  WE HAD GUYS SHOWING UP TEN MINUTES BEFORE GAME TIME AND BRYN ATHYN CLEARLY WANTED THIS GAME MORE.  THEY OUT HUSTLED US TO LOOSE PUCKS AND WON THE INDIVIDUAL BATTLES".  ZACH SHERIKO WOULD STOP 35 OF 40 SHOTS IN THE LOSING EFFORT.
