PSUA DROPS TWO TO FREDONIA AND PSU BEHREND

Monday, November 25, 2013

IT TAKES SIXTY  MINUTES TO WIN A HOCKEY GAME.  THIS IS THE HARD LESSON THAT PSUA LEARNED AGAINST CHE DIVISION RIVALS FREDONIA AND PSU BEHREND IN A WEEKEND SHOWDOWN ON NOVEMBER 9TH AND 10TH.  THE LIONS WOULD HAVE THEIR SLOWEST START OF THE SEASON SPOTTING FREDONIA THREE GOALS BEFORE SOPHOMORE BEN KINCH  WOULD SNAP A SHOT OVER THE BLUE DEVILS GOALIE ASSISTED BY JEFF NELSON.  THE LIONS WOULD SURRENDER A SECOND POWERPLAY GOAL TO FREDONIA BEFORE KINCH WOULD SCORE HIS SECOND OF THE GAME.  THE LIONS WOULD GIVE UP AN EMPTY NET GOAL IN THE 5-2 LOSS.  ZACH SHERIKO WOULD TURN AWAY 27 OF 31 SHOTS.  ASSISTANT COACH MIKE MAGEE HAD THIS TO SAY.  "YOU CANNOT SPOT A TEAM 3 GOALS IN THE FIRST PERIOD AND EXPECT A SUCCESSFUL EFFORT.  WE WERE JUST NOT READY TO PLAY!"

THE TEAM WOULD TRAVEL FORTY-FIVE MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD TO THE ERIE INSURANCE ARENA, HOME OF THE ERIE OTTERS, FOR THEIR GAME AGAINST RIVAL COMMONWEALTH CAMPUS PSU BEHREND.  THE LIONS WERE DETERMINED NOT TO HAVE A REPEAT PERFORMANCE OF SATURDAY.  DAVID BRAMLEY WOULD SCORE HIS FIRST COLLEGIATE GOAL 1:47 INTO THE GAME ASSISTED BY LUK DEVORSKI AND CONLAN SODROSKY.  .  BEHREND WOULD TIE THE GAME AT ONE, FIVE MINUTES LATER.  "BRAMS" WOULD ADD HIS SECOND GOAL OF THE GAME ON THE POWER PLAY ASSISTED BY LUK DEVORSKI.  BRIAN KRUSER WOULD ADD ANOTHER POWER PLAY GOAL ASSITED FROM  JACK LAWN AND ADAM BADORREK, AS THE LIONS WOULD TAKE A 3-1 LEAD INTO THE SECOND PERIOD.  THE LIONS WOULD SURRENDER TWO GOALS AS BEHREND FORCED A 3-3 TIE AT THE END OF THE SECOND PERIOD.  PSUA WOULD TAKE THE LEAD 4-3 ON A CONLAN SODROSKY GOAL AT 15:20 OF THE THIRD PERIOD, ASSISTED FROM BRAMLEY AND DEVOSKI.  THEN THE BOTTOM WOULD FALL OUT .  BEHREND WOULD SCORE THE NEXT FOUR GOALS AS THEY WOULD ROUT THE VISITING LIONS.  COACH LANTZ HAD THIS TO SAY.   "I AM VERY DISAPPINTED IN THE TEAMS PERFORMANCE THIS WEEKEND.  THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE WORST MELTDOWN IN ONE PERIOD OF HOCKEY IN MY 5 SEASONS OF COACHING.  BEHREND JUST WANTED IT MORE TODAY.  WE HAVE TO PLAY BETTER.  WE WILL PLAY BETTER." JOHN TRAVIS WOULD STOP 34 OF 42 SHOTS IN THE LOSS.  NEXT UP FOR THE LIONS SAINT VINCENT COLLEGE.
