HERRMAN NETS GAME WINNER IN OT

PSUA LIONS START OFF 2013 WITH A MUCH NEEDED WIN AGAINST RIVAL PSU BEHREND 3-2 IN OVERTIME. FRESHMAN BRANDON HERRMAN PICKED OFF AN ERRANT PASS FROM ROB BANKS AND BEAT BEHREND GOALTENDER KEVIN SMYTH ON BREAKAWAY AT 3:06 OF OVERTIME. THE LIONS STARTED OFF THE GAME WITH A GREAT DEFENSIVE EFFORT AND LED THE GAME 2-0 ON GOALS BY JEFF NELSON AND CONLAN SODROSKY. BEN KINCH, MATT TORELLO, AND CJ DUNTON ALSO ADDED ASSISTS. HOWEVER BEHREND BATTLED BACK AND TIED THE GAME WITH 14 SECONDS LEFT IN THE 3RD PERIOD. PSUA GOALTENDER DAVE WINEGARDEN STOPPED 16 OF 18 SHOTS FOR THE WIN. COACH LANTZ COMMENTED ON HIS TEAM'S WIN. "THIS WAS A MUCH NEEDED WIN FOR THIS UNIT, AND I AM VERY PROUD OF ALL THE BOYS FOR NOT GIVING UP AND FIGHTING BACK FOR SUCH A HARD FOUGHT WIN." THIS WAS THE OPPOSITE RESULT OF THE PREVIOUS GAME AGAINST BEHREND IN OCTOBER WHERE THE LIONS LOST 3-2 IN OVERTIME. THE LIONS FACE THE VULCANS OF CAL NEXT SATURDAY.
