PSU ALTOONA WINS HOME OPENER OVER GEORGE MASON 4-2

PSU ALTOONA NITTANY LIONS OPENED THEIR 2012-2013 SEASON WITH A 4-2 WIN OVER GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY. THE LIONS WERE LED BY FRESHMAN BEN KINCH WHO HAD 2 GOALS.  KINCH WOULD GET THE LIONS ROLLING  5 MINUTES INTO THE GAME SCORING SHORTHANDED.  THE LIONS WOULD LEAD 1-0 AFTER THE FIRST PERIOD.  FRESHMAN JEFF NELSON WOULD SCORE THE LIONS SECOND GOAL LIFTING THE PUCK OVER A SPRAWLING GOALTENDER.  SOPHOMORE CJ DUNTON WOULD SCORE THE EVENTUAL GAME WINNER DRAGGING THE PUCK AROUND THE GEORGE MASON GOALIE.  KINCH WOULD SCORE HIS SECOND GOAL ON THE POWERPLAY FROM FRESHMAN KYLE LEES AND JEFF NELSON.  FRESHMAN HARRISON PITTS, JAMES DIBERARDINIS, AND CONLAN SODROSKY WOULD ALSO ADD ASSISTS FOR THE LIONS.  FRESHMAN GOALTENDER ZACH SHERIKO WOULD WIN HIS FIRST COLLEGE GAME TURNING AWAY 18 OF 20 SHOTS.  COACH LANTZ HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT HIS YOUNG TEAM.  "I THOUGHT THE TEAM EXCUTED VERY WELL.  WE THREW A LOT OF INFORMATION AT THEM IN JUST 8 PRACTICES AND THE ENTIRE TEAM RESPONDED.   WE ARE ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER."  THE LIONS NEXT HEAD TO MICHIGAN IN OCTOBER FOR THE SCHUPAN TOURNAMENT.
