Right now, the Johnstown Sitting Bulls are the only sled hockey team in the area. Their closest competitor is in Pittsburgh. But Penn State Altoona Hockey Coach Tom Lantz hopes to change that. He's challenged his team to take on the Sitting Bulls in a sled hockey game this weekend. The goal for Lantz, Ken Koronowski from Galactic Ice and Dan Burkhart from the Miracle League of Blair County is to form a new team based here. "You see your brother out here playing junior hockey and you're like, 'aw man,' you're sitting on the sideline," said Burkhart. "You wish you could get involved. And now that opportunity's finally come here for hockey." So, they're holding an exhibition sled hockey game on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2:15 p.m. at Galactic Ice in Lakemont. That'll be followed by a clinic put on by the USA Sled Hockey organization. For more information on the game and on how to join the new team being formed in the Altoona area, call Tom Lantz at (814) 312-6126 or Ken Koronowski at (814) 695-1381.
