PLATE NETS GAME WINNER AGAINST NEUMANN UNIVERSITY
Saturday, January 29, 2011
FRESHMEN ANDREW (SNIPER) PLATE WOULD SCORE THE GO AHEAD GOAL AT 16:22 OF THE THIRD PERIOD AND LEAD THE LIONS TO AN 8-5 COME FROM BEHIND VICTORY AGAINST THE NEUMANN KNIGHTS. AFTER TRAILING 4-1 AT THE END OF THE FIRST PERIOD, IT LOOKED LIKE THE LIONS HAD BEEN ON A FOUR HOUR BUS RIDE, AND NOT THE OPPOSITION. "THEY CONTROLLED EVERY FACET OF THE GAME. WE PLAYED A SLOPPY FIRST PERIOD." WITH FORTY MINUTES REMAINING, THE LIONS MADE SOME DEFENSIVE ADJUSTMENTS THAT WOULD CHANGE THE MOMENTUM AND EVENTUAL OUTCOME OF THE GAME. "THE DEFENSE STARTED TO STEP UP AND FORWARDS BEGAN TO BACK CHECK." THE YOUNG KNIGHTS TEAM WHO FOUGHT SO HARD IN THE FIRST, BEGAN TO TAKE SEVERAL UNDISCIPLINED PENALTIES THAT WOULD RESULT IN FIVE PSUA POWER PLAY GOALS. PLATE WOULD FINISH THE THE NIGHT WITH A GOAL AND THREE ASSISTS. SOPHOMORE JAMSEY ROSSI WOULD SCORE YET ANOTHER HAT-TRICK. LINE MATE GREG JOHNSON WOULD ALSO ADD A GOAL AND THREE ASSISTS. FRESHMAN DEFENSIVE PLAYER JR GEARHART WOULD ADD A GOAL AND ASSIST. ROB MATTERN AND TREVOR FISK WOULD ALSO ADD A GOAL A PIECE. "THIS COME FROM BEHIND WIN, SHOWED GREAT TEAMWORK AND A NEVER GIVE UP ATTITUDE. IF WE PLAY ALL OUR GAMES LIKE THE LAST FORTY MINUTES, WE ARE A VERY DANGEROUS TEAM." GOALIE CHRIS RYAN WOULD ALLOW ONLY ONE GOAL IN THE FINAL FORTY MINUTES OF PLAY.
