PSU DROPS HOME AND HOME TO SUSQUEHANNA

Tuesday, November 19, 2024

A rough weekend for the Nittany Lions following a huge win at the Island against RMU. PSU would face a depleted, but disciplined River Hawks squad. Eddie Asante would lead the Lions on Saturday with his first collegiate hat-trick, but the Lions would waste the effort giving up a shorthanded goal in a 4-3 losing effort. Roan McCormick would turn away 22 of 26 shots. The Lions would return to Galactic Ice on Sunday for a shot a redemption. A slow start would once again put the PSU at a disadvantage. Sophomore Evin Heffler would tally twice for the Nittany Lions, but special teams would once again make the Lions stumble. PSU would give up two shorthanded goals and a power play goal in a 6-5 losing effort. PSU would battle back with goals from David Westbrook, Ben Pfeilstucker, and Christian Strang. Roan McCormick would get the back to back starts turning away 24 of 30 shots. Coaching staff commented you have to be ready to play and come out buzzing. This starts from moment you arrive at the arena, and that sense of urgency wasn't there today. PSU now heads to Philadelphia for the East Coast Showdown against three DVCHC opponents this weekend heading into Thanksgiving break.
