MCCORMICK SHUTS THE DOOR AGAINST CAL U

PSUA would welcome the Cal U Vulcans to Galactic Ice for a late Friday night CHE showdown. The Lions would start fast, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Edward Asante (Kearney & Strang), would give Penn State a 1-0 lead 49 seconds into the game. 26 seconds later Andrew Duey (Pfeilstucker) would continue his hot streak on a breakaway splitting Cal's defense. Peter Shivas (Westbrook) would score his first goal of the year giving a PSU a 3-0 lead at the end of one. The Vulcans would score the next two goals narrowing the Lions lead to 3-2. Christian Strang (Park & Bruno) would give the Lions a 4-2 lead on the power play. Cal U, would strike back with a power play goal of their own, with Evin Heffler in the sin bin for roughing. Altoona would take a 4-3 lead heading into the third period. With PSU back on the power play, Tyler Kearney would give PSU a 5-3 lead from Duey and Asante 3:35 into the third period. From that point on goaltender Roan McCormick would shut the door turning away 15 of the Vulcan's shots during the third period, for his second win of the season. Tyler Duey would earn the luchador MVP mask for his hot start to the season (6 goals 3 assists). PSU would go 2 of 6 on the power play while killing 6 of 7 penalties. Penn State takes to the road on Sunday against DVCHC Patriot Division newcomer Bucknell.
