LIONS SPLIT WITH KUTZTOWN

Sunday, November 26, 2023

In a DVCHC showdown in Philly, PSU would face-off against Kutztown in a two game series. In game one on Saturday night The Lions would do everything right except put the puck in the net. Early in the first period, Penn State would give up a power play goal, where the goalie Roan McCormick was heavily screened. From that point on it would become a goalie duel and neither teaming finding the net in a 1-0 Lions loss. In game two of the contest, PSU had to make some adjustments. To win this game and beat this goalie, PSU would have to score some dirty goals and that's exactly what they did. PSU would rely heavily on their defense and traffic in front of the net. PSU would get some grinding goals from Halpin, Niedermayer, and Lempe. Kutztown would battle back making the score 3-2 and then the Lions players would step up. "We asked our players to give us everything they had and they delivered. Players were blocking shots and Roan was just outstanding in net for his 2nd game in a row. PSU returns to CHE play after Thanksgiving Break against Robert Morris at The Island. Currently PSU sits at 4-1.
