PSU has put them in a position to not only go 3-0 for the weekend, but potentially win the East Coast Show Down. They currently trail Hobart by .5 point and the tournament will come down to the tournaments final day. PSU will face off against PSU Harrisburg at 8:30 am and Hobart meets Loyola. Freshman goalie Steve Gilchrist would lead the charge for the Lions, stopping all thirty-three shots, earning his fourth win of the season. Steve made some incredible saves for us in the first period lowering his goals against average to 2.04. Freshman forward Mike Lassik continued his hot streak scoring another four goals and assisting on one more. The Lions would take charge early and never look back. Danny Wilson(2) would net the Lions first goal of the period, and eventual game winner, at 15:41 (assisted by Max Selverian). His line mate Jeff Hagan (6) would score just 2:30 later to give the PSU a 2-0 lead. Mike Pilla (15) would make it 3-0 (Lassik). Pilla would return the favor to Lassik (11). Sophomore Captain Mike Ludwig (8) would then give PSU a 5-0 lead also assisted from Pilla. Lassik (12) would then score a buzzer beater as time expired from Ludwig and Gricco. PSU lead 6-0 at the end of the first. Knowing they had to win the next two periods, PSU aimed for two goals then play a dump and chase trap to assist their goaltender. Lassik (13) would score his third of the game at 13:55 (Ludwig / Gricco). Then :52 seconds later Nick Danese (4) from Hagan and Wilson would give PSU an 8-0 lead at the end of two. As the third period started PSU would adopt the same philosophy. Hagan (7) would score top shelf over the goalies shoulder. The two minutes later, Nico Gricco would receive an outlet pass from Lassik and Dolan and give the Lions a 10-0 lead on a nifty break away. The official goal was credited to Mike Lassik on the score sheet. Then the Lions Defense and Gilchrist would shut the door. We played three complete periods today and we have to bring the same intensity tomorrow. PSU had quite the fan support at Ice Works tonight, as a lot of the boys got to play in front of friends, family, and former players. It was good to be able to give the fans a great win, and we thank them for such great support. Gilchrist would win the team's MVP belt for his outstanding performance. The Lions can wrap up the tournament tomorrow with a win against PSU Harrisburg. PSU improved to 10-2-1 on the season.
