GILCHRIST BLANKS IUP 5-0

Freshman goaltender Steve Gilchrist improved to 3-0 on the season with another stellar performance shutting out the IUP Crimson Hawks 5-0. Gilchrist would make a number of huge saves, turning away 26 of 26 shots. His save percentage increased to .943 and his goals against average dropped to 1.33. Mitch Rupprecht would continue his scoring streak netting two goals and an assist for a total of nineteen points on the season. Rupprecht would net the game winner on the first goal of the game at 6:38 (assist Tamburi). Max Selverian would score his first collegiate goal twenty six seconds later on a nifty pass from freshman Matt Littler and sophomore defenseman Dominic Bova. Rupprecht would score his thirteenth goal of the season and third shorthanded goal at 1:22 of the first period assisted by Nico Gricco. The Crimson Hawks would outshoot the Lions 7-6 at the end of the first period, however the Lions led 3-0.
Sean Dolan would score the only goal of the second period on the powerplay with a slapshot from the point. PSU would outshoot IUP 13-6 and lead 4-0 at the end of two.
Both goaltenders continued played very stingy in the third period turning away some prime scoring chances. Nico Gricco would tally his fourth goal and nineteenth point of the season, assisted by Rupprecht. Final Score PSU 5 IUP 0.
Gilchrist would earn the team's MVP belt for his outstanding performance.
The Lions improved their record to 5-2-1 and travel to W&J for a showdown against the Presidents tomorrow night.
