THE BATTLE OF THE BRANCH CAMPUSES RENEWED THEIR RIVALRY SATURDAY EVENING AT MERCYHURST ARENA IN ERIE, PA.  BOTH TEAM SUFFERED A LOSS THE NIGHT BEFORE, AND BOTH TEAMS WERE HUNGRY LOOKING FOR A VICTORY.  PSU BEHREND WOULD STRIKE SCORING THE GAMES FIRST TWO GOALS.  ARMEN ASDORIAN WOULD PULL PSU ALTOONA WITHIN ONE AT THE END OF THE FIRST PERIOD, ASSISTED BY ZAC LYONS AND NICO GRICCO.  ALTOONA WOULD SCORE THE NEXT THREE GOALS AND LEAD BEHREND 4-3 AT THE END OF TWO.  MIKE LUDWIG WOULD SCORE HIS FIRST OF THE NIGHT 50 SECONDS INTO THE SECOND PERIOD.  THREE MINUTES LATER SOPHOMORE DEFENSMAN JACK LAWN WOULD TALLY ON THE POWER PLAY, ASSISTED FROM MITCH GREGORY AND DANIEL WILSON.  THE LIONS NICO GRICCO WOULD SCORE THREE MINUTES LATER FROM GOALTENDER JOHN TRAVIS.  BEHREND WOULD TIE THE GAME 2 1/2 MINUTES INTO THE THIRD PERIOD ON A POWER PLAY.  PSUA WOULD RESPOND QUICKLY, AND RETAKE THE LEAD, AS DAVID BRAMLEY WOULD ALSO SCORE ON THE POWER PLAY FROM ARMEN ASDORIAN.  HOWEVER BEHREND WOULD NOT GO AWAY AND WITHIN A THREE MINUTE STRETCH TOOK THE LEAD 6-5.  ARMEN ASDORIAN WOULD SET UP NICO'S SECOND GOAL OF THE NIGHT WHICH WOULD FORCE OVERTIME.  PSUA WOULD HAVE A COUPLE GOOD OPPORTUNITIES TO END THE GAME IN OT, THAT WERE TURNED AWAY BY BEHREND'S GOALTENDER.  THEN AT THE 2:34 MARK OF OVERTIME FRESHMAN DEFENSMAN MICHAEL LUDWIG WOULD BLAZE DOWN THE LEFT WING, PICKING A SPOT ABOVE THE GOALIES SHOULDER, SENDING THE WATER BOTTLE FLYING IN THE ERROR, GIVING PSUA A 7-6 WIN.  JOHNNY TRAVIS WOULD TURN AWAY 37 OF 43 SHOTS IN THE WIN.  MICHAEL LUDWIG WOULD WIN THE TEAM'S MVP BELT FOR HIS OVERTIME HEROICS.  THE LIONS WILL NEXT MEET IUP FRIDAY NIGHT.  THE WIN EVENS THE LIONS RECORD AT 3-3.
