AFTER TWO TOUGH ONE GOAL LOSSES, THE LIONS NEEDED A BIG RESPONSE, AND IN THE FINAL GAME OF "THE CLASSIC", THE UNKNOWNING VICTIM WOULD BE SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY.  IN THE FINAL GAME BEFORE THANKSGIVING BREAK, THE LIONS PREACHED A FAST START.  SOPHOMORE CONLAN SODROSKY (BERTONE, FEDENA), WOULD SCORE HIS FIRST OF THREE GOALS AT 12:19 OF THE FIRST PERIOD.  THREE MINUTES LATER SODROSKY (NELSON) WOULD SCORE HIS SECOND GOAL OF THE GAME.  SOPHOMORE DEFENSEMAN KYLE LEES (DEVORSKI), WOULD GIVE PENN STATE A 3-0 LEAD.  THEN WITH TWO MINUTES REMAINING IN THE FIRST PERIOD FRESHMAN ANTHONY BERTONE (SODROSKY) WOULD GIVE THE LIONS A COMMANDING 4-0 LEAD.  THE SECOND PERIOD WOULD PROVE TO BE VERY UNEVENTFUL WITH BOTH TEAMS, UNTIL SODROSKY (KRUSER, FEDENA) WOULD COMPLETE THE HAT-TRICK WITH A POWER PLAY GOAL AT THE SIX MINUTE MARK.  WITH ANTHONY BERTONE INJURED, FRESHMAN LUK DEVORSKI WOULD JOIN THE ATM POWER PLAY LINE AND WOULD NOT DISAPPOINT THE PSU CROWD.  DEVORSKI (SODROSKY, FEDENA) WOULD SCORE GIVING THE LIONS A 6-0 LEAD.  ATM WOULD GO BACK ON THE POWER PLAY AND TWO MINUTES LATER DEVORSKI WOULD SCORE ON A ONE-TIMER FROM SODROSKY AND FEDENA.  FEDENA WOULD CLOSE OUT THE SCORING SHORTHANDED CEMENTING THE LIONS 8-0 WIN.  ZACH SHERIKO WOULD EARN HIS FIRST COLLEGIATE SHUTOUT STOPPING ALL 29 SHOTS IN THE WIN.  "WE REALLY NEEDED THIS WIN TODAY AND IT GAVE THE BOYS A HUGE LIFT.  RIKO PLAYED SOLID TODAY AND MADE A FEW DIFFICULT SAVES AT THE END OF THE GAME TO PRESERVE THE SHUTOUT.  FURTHERMORE SODROSKY WAS PLAYING AT A DIFFERENT LEVEL TODAY AND HOPEFULLY THAT CONTINUES THE REST OF THE SEASON."  AFTER A TOUGH FIRST TWO GAMES IN "THE CLASSIC", THIS TYPE OF WIN WAS EXACTLY WHAT PENN STATE NEEDED.  SODROSKY WOULD NUDGE OUT SHERIKO FOR THE MVP CHAMPIONSHIP BELT.  THE LIONS NEXT GAME WILL BE AT HOME DEC 7 AGAINST FREDONIA.
