UNC WILMINGTON DEFEATS PSU 4-3
Sunday, December 8, 2013
FOLLOWING A HEARTBREAKING LOSS TO BRYN ATHYN, THE LIONS WOULD FACE OFF AGAINST UNC WILMINGTON IN THEIR SECOND GAME OF "THE CLASSIC". THE LIONS, HOPING FOR A FAST START, WOULD QUICKLY FIND THEMSELVES TRAILING 1-0 FOUR MINUTES INTO THE GAME. SOPHOMORE BEN KINCH (DEVORSKI, BADORREK) WOULD THEN TIE THE SCORE 1-1 AT THE END OF THE FIRST PERIOD. THEN BLAIR BIGWOOD WOULD TAKE OVER THE GAME FOR UNC WILMINGTON, SCORING THE NEXT THREE GOALS AND GIVING UNC A 4-1 LEAD. JEFF NELSON (LAWN) WOULD CUT THE LEAD TO 4-2 AT THE TWELVE MINUTE MARK WITH A TURNAROUND SLAPSHOT FROM THE POINT. LUK DEVORSKI WOULD TALLY WITH 1.5 SECONDS REMAINING, AS PSUA WOULD JUST COME UP SHORT. JOHN TRAVIS WOULD TURN AWAY 25 OF 29 SHOTS IN THE LOSS. "WE HAD OUR OPPORTUNITIES TODAY, BUT JUST COULDN'T CONVERT. I THOUGHT WE PLAYED MUCH BETTER AS A UNIT, BUT STILL NEED A SIXTY MINUTE PERFORMANCE. YOU WILL SEE A DIFFERENT TEAM ON SUNDAY."
